How does TRN Harmonics Scanner work?
On the right side of the chart, you can find a table displaying the symbols monitored by our scanner for pattern and breakout detection. The table is divided into bullish and bearish patterns and provides information on the status of each symbol.
UP – Upside Breakout
DN – Downside Breakout
UP CONF – Upside Breakout confirmed
DN CONF – Downside Breakout confirmed
FAILED – Pattern failed to get confirmed
If a pattern is in the making or already got confirmed, the scanner displays the name of the harmonic pattern in the table.
The scanner operates specifically on the timeframe you have selected in TradingView, ensuring that the detected patterns and breakouts align precisely with your trading perspective. If the scanner displays a pattern or a breakout, you just can switch to this instrument and start trading it if you like what you see.

Add Symbols
Go to indicator settings and scroll down to the "Symbols" section. The enabled symbols can be recognized by the check marks. Click on one of them and use the search function to add the symbol of your choice to the scanner. You can search for up to 20 different symbols at the same time.
Use Alerts (Optional but Recommended)
You can also use the built-in alerts to easily get notified when a pattern occurs. In the indicator settings in the "Alerts" section you can choose whether you want to get notified when a pattern is
1. in the making (Pattern active),
2. confirms an up breakout (B/O Up Confirmed)

The Harmonic Pattern Scanner includes also the TRN Bars algorithm. It is designed to spot bullish and bearish trends and reversals. The trend analysis is based on a new algorithm that weights several different inputs:
1. classical and advanced bar patterns and their statistical frequency
2. probability distributions of price expansions after certain bar patterns
3. bar information such as wick length in %, overlapping of the previous bar in % and many more
4. historical trend and consolidation analysis
If you use this breakout condition, the breakout is determined by the next signal (reversal, continuation, breakout) or trend change of the TRN bars after one of the harmonic patterns has been completed. These Breakout conditions give you the accurate trend recognition of the TRN Bars to find the perfect entry.
TRN Bars Signal
If a harmonic pattern gets completed and you use this breakout condition, the breakout will be determined by the next confirmed signal (reversal, continuation, breakout) of the TRN Bars. These Breakout Condition delivers signals with reenforced reliability, but they occur not as often as other breakout conditions.
RSI Crossing
With this breakout condition, a breakout for a long position gets determined, when the RSI line crosses above the RSI moving average (MA) after one of the harmonic patterns has been completed. A bearish breakout after a completed harmonic pattern gets determined, when the RSI line crosses below the RSI MA.
You can choose your preferred RSI and MA length in the indicator settings under the “Trade Management” section.
MACD Crossing
If a harmonic pattern gets completed and you use this breakout condition, the breakout gets determined, when the MACD line crosses above the signal line (bullish MACD crossover) for a bullish breakout. Set your stop-loss at the price level of the red stop-loss line (SL) and set your take-profits at the price level of the green take-profit-lines (TP1, TP2, TP3).
Risk Management
The Head and Shoulders Pattern Indicator comes with a built-in risk management feature. Just go to the settings and scroll down to the section "Risk Management". Here you can enter your Account Size and the percentage you want to Risk when you enter a position after a pattern breakout.
In the "Trade Management" section, you have the option to define the minimum accepted risk-reward ratio for confirmed rectangles. This means that breakouts of patterns failing to meet the minimum risk-reward ratio will not be considered as confirmed signals. If a breakout gets confirmed, the indicator automatically calculates the position size (Quantity). You can read the quantity from the gray entry point line (EP), which is located to the right of the risk-reward ratio (R). Note that your risk-reward ratio (R) is calculated based on TP1.
Customization and Settings
The indicator can scan for smaller and larger patterns at the same time. Adjust the Head and Shoulders Sizes in the indicator settings to align them with your preferences. The head and shoulders chart pattern is a technical analysis pattern used to identify potential trend reversals in financial markets. It consists of three swing highs (peaks), with the middle peak being the highest and the two outside swing highs being slightly lower. The middle peak is referred to as the "head" and the two outside peaks are referred to as the "shoulders."
The pattern typically forms after an uptrend and is in most cases a bearish signal. The neckline is a support level that connects the lows of the two shoulders. Once the price breaks below the neckline, the pattern is confirmed, and a new down trend starts. Conversely, an "inverse head and shoulders" pattern forms after a downtrend and is a bullish signal.

Go to indicator settings and scroll down to the "Symbols" section. The enabled symbols can be recognized by the check marks. Click on one of them and use the search function to add the symbol of your choice to the scanner. You can search for up to 20 different Symbols at the same time.

Customization and Settings
The indicator can scan for smaller and larger patterns at the same time. Adjust the consolidation and head and shoulders sizes in the indicator settings to align them with your preferences. A larger size results in larger patterns. Depending on the asset class, the market or the market phase, different sizes can be used for pattern detection.
To detect more patterns, increase the tolerance level, even though it may result in lower accuracy. However, be mindful that a higher tolerance level may result in more patterns hitting their stop-loss.

Strategy

How to Use ABC Pattern Pro
When the indicator detects a valid ABC pattern, it draws the A-B-C structure with connecting lines and a filled triangle on the chart. An entry line extends from point C showing where the entry level sits. Once the entry condition is met, a triangle marker appears on the bar confirming the signal, and the indicator draws entry, stop loss, and target levels that extend and track the trade outcome.
Start with the default settings (Size 1: 7, Size 2: 14) and observe the patterns detected on your chart. If you trade smaller timeframes and want more frequent patterns, reduce the swing sizes. For higher timeframe swing trading, increase them.
The stop loss is placed at point A — the origin of the impulse move. If price returns to A, the ABC structure is invalidated. Select a target method that fits your style: Fixed Risk Reward for simplicity, AB Projection for measured-move trading, or Reciprocal Ratio for Fibonacci-based targeting.

Unlike most wedge indicators that operate on a single detection scale, TRN Wedge Pattern runs up to four independent detection layers simultaneously. Each detection layer has its own swing sensitivity (Size) and maximum pattern length (Max Length), allowing traders to scan for micro wedges and macro wedges on the same chart at the same time. Detection sizes must be entered in ascending order. Breakout Targeting
Once a wedge breakout is confirmed — when price closes beyond the trendline boundary — the indicator automatically calculates and displays entry, stop loss, and take profit levels. The stop loss is placed at the most recent swing extreme opposite to the trade direction. The take profit is determined by one of three target calculation modes:
Fixed Risk Reward: Uses a configurable risk-reward multiplier (default 2.0) applied to the distance between entry and stop loss. For example, with a 2R target, if the risk is 50 points, the target is 100 points from entry.
Pattern Height: Uses the full height of the wedge pattern measured from its widest point. This mode ties the target directly to the pattern's geometry — larger wedges produce larger targets.
Max (Fixed RR, Pattern Height): Uses the larger of the two calculations, ensuring the target is at least as large as the fixed risk-reward but can be larger if the pattern's height exceeds it.
Reverse Breakout
Classic wedge theory predicts that a rising wedge breaks down and a falling wedge breaks up. But experienced traders know that wedge failures happen — and those failures are themselves tradeable setups. The optional reverse breakout mode enables trading in the opposite direction of the expected breakout. When activated, a rising wedge breaking upward or a falling wedge breaking downward also generates a trade signal with its own entry, stop loss, and target levels. The statistics table tracks reverse breakout performance separately, so traders can evaluate whether these counter-setups are profitable on their specific instrument and timeframe.
Pattern Performance Statistics
The built-in statistics table tracks historical pattern performance in real-time. For each trade direction (long, short, reverse long, reverse short), the table displays the number of occurrences, win rate, loss rate, expired trades (timeout), and cumulative R — the total risk-adjusted return across all trades. This allows traders to evaluate whether wedge patterns actually produce an edge on the asset and timeframe they are watching, rather than relying on theoretical expectations. Check Pattern Statistics
Before entering a trade, check the statistics table. It shows how successful wedge breakouts have been historically on the asset and timeframe you are watching. If rising wedge breakdowns have a strong win rate but falling wedge breakouts do not, you can adjust your trade direction filter accordingly.
Breakout — Entry, Stop Loss and Target
When a breakout is confirmed, the indicator displays the entry price line (EP), stop loss line (SL), and take profit line (TP) directly on the chart. The entry is at the next bar open after the breakout candle closes beyond the wedge boundary. Set your stop-loss at the SL level and your take-profit at the TP level. The risk-reward ratio is displayed on the entry label.
Detection Sizing
Adjust the four detection sizes to match your trading style. Smaller swing sizes (e.g. 7) detect frequent, shorter-duration wedges suited for intraday trading. Wedges form on every timeframe and every scale. This scanner runs up to three independent detection scales concurrently:
Smaller scales — catch intraday compressions and faster setups
Larger scales — capture broader, structural wedges
Each scale gets its own pair of columns in the table. You see at a glance whether a symbol is compressing on a single scale or several at once. When scales align, you know it. No mental gymnastics, no second scanner.
Built on a Proprietary Swing Engine
A wedge is only as good as the swing points that define its trendlines. This scanner runs on a proprietary swing engine purpose-built for structural pattern recognition. The result: high detection accuracy on clean wedge structures, precision trendline construction, and patterns that match what a discretionary chartist would mark by hand.
Every candidate is checked against:
Trendline convergence — Both trendlines must genuinely converge. Parallel channels and divergent structures are rejected.
Per-scale max length — Each detection scale enforces its own maximum pattern length. Keeps timing realistic.
Swing-structure integrity — Invalidates the wedge the moment a swing point breaks the trendline geometry.
What survives is not "any two converging lines." It's wedges that pass a discretionary trader's quality bar. You skip the noise and trade the structurally sound setups.

Log-Scale Analysis
Slope measurements distort on a linear scale when instruments differ in price. A wedge on CME_MINI:NQ1! and a wedge on FX:EURUSD measure totally different slopes, even when they look identical. This scanner measures trendline slope on a logarithmic price scale by default. Detection stays consistent whether you scan a high-priced index future, a sub-1.00 FX pair, or a crypto pair below $1. Price level never skews the read.
Both Sides Covered
Rising wedges classically resolve down. Falling wedges classically resolve up. That's the textbook view. An optional Reverse Breakout mode tracks counter-direction breaks too: bullish moves out of rising wedges, bearish moves out of falling ones. One tool covers continuation traders, reversal traders, and the players who trade both sides.
